Faculty Governance

The Annual Process

Following the Academic Board Effectiveness Review, Governance Services have produced an annual process to support Faculty Boards and their Committees.

The following actions should be undertaken annually by Faculty Boards, Faculty Academic Committees, Faculty Research Committees and Faculty Research Ethics Committees.

  • March 2009 Seek approval for meeting dates for forthcoming academic year (NB Faculty Boards must provide the information to Academic Board by 3 June 2009)
  • April/May 2009 Seek new staff members for 2009/10 (via nominations and elections) in accordance with election guidance
  • May 2009   Review effectiveness - Boards/ Committees should review their effectiveness and report to parent committee (see right hand link for further information)
  • May 2009 Generate schedules of business for academic year 2009/10
  • June 2009 Report effectiveness and schedule of business 09/10 to parent committee (NB Faculty Boards must provide the information to Academic Board by 3 June 2009)
  • September/October 2009 Submit amended membership profile to parent committee
  • September/October 2009   Induct new members, through meetings with the chair
  • October 2009   Complete register of interests for all members
  • October 2009 Seek new student representatives by election (Faculty Board only)
