Learning

Studying isn’t just about sitting at a desk. At Leeds Metropolitan, we work hard to bring your learning to life.

Our bespoke learning environments include media centres, dance studios and mock law courts. Wherever possible, we locate your studies in real work environments to enhance your employability skills and help you to stand out to prospective employers.

As well as having beautiful heritage buildings at our Headingley Campus, we also have some of the best modern buildings in Leeds. In the last two years we have opened three award-winning buildings: Broadcasting Place, The Rose Bowl and Carnegie Pavillion, all of which are flexible, interactive workspaces equipped with the latest digital and audio-visual technology.

Flexible options to suit your busy lifestyle

We want to make study possible for everyone, so many of our courses offer full-time, part-time and distance learning options. If none of our standard courses offers what you need, we may be able to offer an Individual Programme of Study (IPoS), which enables you to completely tailor your own learning. To find out more, contact our Admission Enquiries team.

A library that’s open when you need it

As a student at Leeds Metropolitan, you can be sure that the library will be open when you need it. Our libraries are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our library holds the Customer Service Excellence Award. In addition to a library at both campuses, you can also access the library online.

IT and support

If you need access to a PC whilst you’re on campus, you’ll find plenty in the library and in our Student Hubs. In addition, Leeds Metropolitan campuses are wi-fi enabled. If you’re dyslexic or need adaptive hardware or software, simply ask for support at our library Help and Information Points. All of our student halls of residence have internet access, so you can study from home too.

If you need to borrow a laptop, digital camera or other equipment, simply visit our AV loans team in the library. If you’re interested in production work, ask about our TV studios and self-access video editing facilities.

X-stream

Once you’re a student at Leeds Metropolitan, you’ll have access to X-stream, our student portal. Through the portal you can access your university e-mail account, check your timetable and find out what’s happening on your course.
