Tell me about Leeds
Leeds has one of the largest student populations outside London, so you will be sure to feel at home. Life in Leeds means:
- A cosmopolitan city centre which is full of independent shops
- One of the most active cultural scenes in the UK
- Great employment prospects for graduates
- Yorkshire, one of the UK's most beautiful counties on your doorstep
Many international students choose Leeds as the cost of living is much lower than in London and other UK cities. Shops and restaurants will offer you a discount if you show your Leeds Metropolitan Students' Union card.
Leeds is very friendly, and although it’s a large city, there’s a real community feel. Leeds Metropolitan takes the safety of its students seriously, and we have a partnership with a local taxi firm so you can be sure you will always be able to get home.
Leeds is a multicultural city and has many specialist food shops where you can buy ingredients from many countries, including India and China. There are also places of worship for all major religions, and you’ll find prayer rooms on campus.
If you're interested in exploring the UK during your time in Leeds, London is only two hours away, and Edinburgh is just three hours away. The city has excellent train and bus links, and Leeds Bradford Airport has regular flights to many international destinations.
