Leeds Business School′s autumn CIPR Guest Lecture series was a great success with the line up ranging from Leeds City Council′s Andy Carter who looked at the changing face of PR in the public sector, to managing global brands with Sarah McCartney, Head of Communications at handmade cosmetics company, Lush.

This year′s series concluded with the presentation of the Claire Mascall Prize, supported by Redmayne Bentley. The third prize of £500 and a two week placement at MCG PR went to Julia Lumley. The Second prize of £500, as well as a two week placement at the Centre for Public Relations Studies was awarded to Sadie Edwards. Finally, the first place winner of the competition Katie Brown, was awarded a two week placement at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) as well as &ound;1000, donated by Claire Mascall′s family. Four runners up also received copies of Public Relations and the Social Web, written by Rob Bown.

First prize winner Katie Brown said; ′I am so shocked that I have won. It′s such a fantastic prize and I feel privileged. I am really looking forward to the placement opportunity.′

Lucy Laville, Course Leader for BA Public Relations in Leeds Business School, said; ”This is one of the most exciting opportunities for PR students at Leeds Met. The CIPR Lecture Series gives tomorrow′s PR professionals a chance to gain an insight into cutting edge PR and communications issues through contacts with the best practitioners in the profession.“

This series has once again signified the commitment of Leeds Met to its students, providing them with professional insights into the business world. We now look forward to the next instalment of the CIPR Guest Lecture series in autumn 2010.
