Olympian Performance Presentation

15 February 2010

On 11 February, the eve of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Leeds Business School was proud to host an Olympic themed presentation delivered by Martin Allison, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Law and Chairman of the Board of the British Bobsleigh Association.

The Olympic ethos, spirit and ideals have captivated billions of people over time and still provide a source of inspiration to generations. The Games are compelling for many reasons including a celebration of the triumph of the human spirit in its quest for enhancement and reaching ever higher standards, at the same time as recognising the value of virtue over vice.

The parallels in modern business are many and Olympian Performance – Cool Lessons from Sport to Business saw Martin reflecting on his recent experiences with the Olympic discipline of bobsleigh and highlight key behaviours and practices displayed by extraordinarily successful sports and companies. On the day before the Official Opening of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics there was no better way to get into the Olympic spirit than by learning how this movement can be a catalyst for a performance enhancing shift in the results of your activities.
