International Welcome Leeds Courses

We have arranged a programme of activities for you during the International Welcome Programme to help you complete the necessary formalities to join our University as well as to help you to settle in quickly and make new friends.

Wednesday 25th January

Check-in at the International Students' Welcome Desk on Level 2 in the Rose Bowl at City Campus or the Helpzone at Headingley Campus - please bring your passport and tuition fee payment.

Information Fair - Information will be available on clubs and societies, safety, volunteering, the social programme, English Language and study skills courses, careers and library services, excursions, travel and transport, and more. 
09.30 am - 4.00 pm Entrance of Rose Bowl on Level 1, City Campus

Exchange Students' Induction - Exchange students please attend this induction it is very important that you find out how to commence studying at Leeds Metropolitan.
10.00 - 11.00am Students from Europe
11.00 - 12.00am Students from outside Europe
Rose Bowl, Lecture Theatre B, City Campus

University Induction - It is very important to attend this session to learn about important aspects of life in the UK and the support for International Students, such as how to open a bank account, Study Skills in the UK, health care, transport, safety and much more.
1.00 pm - 4.00 pm Rose Bowl, Lecture Theatre B, City Campus

Thursday 26th January

Check-in at the International Students' Welcome Desk on Level 2 in the Rose Bowl at City Campus or the Helpzone at Headingley Campus - please bring your passport and tuition fee payment.

Faculty/Course Inductions - Please check the Welcome Information Service for more information on your course induction at: welcome.leedsmet.ac.uk.

Library Tours - Learn how to use our extensive library resources. Meet at the 'Meeting Point' on the ground floor of the Library 5 minutes before the tour start time.
4.00 pm Headingley Campus Library, James Graham Building

Welcome Party - Enjoy a Yorkshire welcome at our barn dance with a live band, meet other new students and sample some Yorkshire food. Collect your free ticket from one of the Helpzones in advance.
7.00 pm - 10.00 pm, Students' Union, City Campus

Friday 27th January

Check-in at the International Students' Welcome Desk level 2 in the Rose Bowl at City Campus or the Helpzone at Headingley Campus - please bring your passport and tuition fee payment.

Buddies Event - Make new friends quickly and get support and advice from current students through our Buddies Scheme. This session will be followed by a tour of the Campus and of the City from the current students. To find out more please click here.

Library Tours - Learn how to use our extensive library resources. Meet at the 'Meeting Point' on the ground floor of the Library 5 minutes before the tour start time.
11.00 am or 2.00 pm at City Campus Library, Leslie Silver Building

Drama and Afternoon Tea - Come along and enjoy a drama production called Culture Shock (by the University Chaplaincy Leeds) and enjoy afternoon tea with our International Student Advice service.
2.00 pm - 4.00 pm Lecture Theatre A, Rose Bowl, City Campus.

Saturday 28th January

Leeds City Orientation Walks - Take a tour of Leeds with a local guide, see the landmarks, some of the best places to eat, drink and go shopping, and get practical advice on living in Leeds.
11.00 am, 1.00 pm, 3.00 pm from the Rose Bowl, City Campus

Sunday 29th January

Visit to York - Enjoy a day out by coach as part of the University's Social Programme. York is famous for its architecture, cobbled streets and the historic York Minster; this city is a fine example of English culture and heritage. There is no charge for this visit but tickets must be collected in advance from one of the Helpzones. 
Departure 09:00am or 11:00am from the Rose Bowl, City Campus
