Leeds Metropolitan University are working with one of the world's leading translation and intepretation service providers on a unique online training programme for interpreters.
In association with Leeds-based thebigword, Languages at Leeds Metropolitan have secured £80k funding to develop an online recruitment, selection and training process for interpreters to meet the dramatic increase in demand for highly competent language professionals.
This innovative and ground-breaking project combines the University's know-how in designing high level specialist language education programmes and assessment criteria with thebigword's worldwide online resources.
The funding will enable the University to recruit an Associate Graduate to work with thebigword on the project. Graham Webb who will be leading on the initiative said:
"We are delighted this funding will help us build on an already fruitful relationship and over the next year will lead to an ever deeper and more valuable partnership between thebigword and Leeds Metropolitan which will provide excellent opportunities for both our students and staff."
