Information for International Students

There are two possibilities available to overseas students wanting a one or two semester course at Leeds Met. (EU students, please see separate information on Erasmus exchanges).

If you are studying at an institution we have an exchange agreement with you may be able to attend Leeds Met on an exchange basis. This means you will pay no additional fees for your study with us. If you are not studying at a partner institution, or if there are no exchange places available, you can come as a Study Abroad student. This means that you will pay fees to Leeds Met for your study with us. In many cases, the fees will be paid on your behalf by your home institution, in some cases they may require you to pay a proportion of these fees yourself.

Before applying, you should check that your overseas study will be accepted by your home institution. You should also consider carefully the additional costs of flights, insurance, accommodation, etc.

Leeds Metropolitan University has international student exchange agreements with institutions in several countries including the New Zealand, Canada, USA, Australia and Japan. In addition, we accept students on Study Abroad programmes from any suitable institution as long as they have an appropriate academic record and English language ability. See the Brochure for a full description of the choices available to you.

Students may stay for one or two semesters (semesters run September/October to January/February and January/February to May/June), usually attending modules from our Level Two curriculum. It is normal for students to attend four modules per semester as a full time programme and to select modules in related subjects.
