Stephanie has been teaching and researching hospitality management for the past 20 years and since 1995 has been at Leeds Metropolitan as a Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) subject reviewer in 2001.

Having led the Faculty's Teaching and Learning Aspect group for the QAA subject review in 2006 she was appointed as a Specialist Reader for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. In 2008 Stephanie was invited to be a reviewer for the National Teaching Fellowship projects and more recently was invited to be an independent referee for the Higher Education Academy's Senior Fellowship applications.

She is currently a University Teacher Fellow and a member of the newly formed 'Buckley Group', a national group set up to examine assessment standards in hospitality, sport, leisure and tourism.
Due to her extensive research profile and deep interest in human resource management Stephanie was appointed by the Home Office as a Commissioner for the Commission for Racial Equality and was a Director of the Low Pay Unit.

  • Visiting Professor at Northern Arizona University
  • Visiting lecturer at Les Roches Hotel School in Switzerland.

Stephanie is currently the educational resources review editor for the Journal of Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism (JoHLSTE) and serves on the executive of CHME.
