An audience with Geoffrey Boycott

26 October 2010

UK Centre for Events Management hosted a unique one-off event at the Carnegie Pavilion with one of our greatest sporting heroes.

An Audience with Geoffrey Boycott, saw the renowned former cricketer and sports commentator discuss his impressive career in sport, broadcasting and international events with Gareth Davies, former international rugby union player and Dean of the University's Carnegie Faculty, before taking questions from students and staff at the university.

The session was a rare opportunity for the audience of Leeds Metropolitan students and staff to ask questions about the sporting career of the legendary former cricketer.

Glen Bowdin, Subject Group Leader of the UK Centre for Events Management, commented:

"We are delighted to host Geoff for this special event which will bring invaluable insights to our students. He is heralded as the greatest batsman of his time and is now known by a new generation as a pull-no-punches commentator.  The talk will be a highlight in our programme of guest speakers, which focuses on linking theory to practice."

This summer, Leeds Metropolitan awarded Geoffrey Boycott OBE an Honorary Doctorate in Sports Science.  His visit to the new Carnegie Pavilion at Headingley Carnegie Stadium will see him return to the home of many of his cricketing triumphs.
