Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) Conference 2012

English Language Teaching hosted the sixth annual Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) Conference on June 21st-22nd, 2012 at Headingley Campus.

This was an international conference for corpus researchers and it has an excellent reputation for the quality of the papers presented. The aim of the conference was to continue the sucess of the previous IVACS Conferences by exploring ways in which corpus linguistics have been used in different areas of linguistics.

We attracted 100 delegates who presented papers that explored the use of corpus linguistics and new  methodological challenges and benefits as well as delegates that delivered papers that reported on applied corpus research.

The conference included the high profile plenary speakers Dr Paula Buttery from the University of Cambridge, UK, Professor Jonathan Culpeper from the University of Lancaster, UK, Professor Sylviane Granger from the University of Louvain, Belgium and Dr Kieran O'Halloran from King's College London, UK.
