.English and university preparation courses
As a student at Leeds Metropolitan, you will be offered an Academic English & Study Skills course to help you while you are studying with us. These classes are offered free to international students, while EU students may be required to pay a small fee.
However, you may find that you don't have a sufficient level of English to apply for one of our undergraduate or postgraduate courses. If so, don't worry, as lots of our students are in the same position.
We have a range of courses that will help you to improve your qualifications and English language ability, most of which are accredited by the British Council. For information on the British Council English Language test (IELTS) please click here
Deciding which English / university preparation course is right for you:
- First, search for your chosen course in our course finder. Then click on 'entry requirements' to see the level of English you need.
For example, to study for an MBA in 2013, you will need a minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0, with no skill below 5.5 (or equivalent). - Next, click here to see how your English qualifications match our English language requirements.
- If you have sufficient English qualifications, then you can go ahead and make your application. If you don't know what your IELTS score or English qualifications are, please e-mail us at elt@leedsmet.ac.uk. To check if your English language qualification is approved by the UKBA, see here.
