Why did you choose to study in the UK/Leeds Met?
The UK is very well know for it quality of education, number of universities and tailor made courses. Besides, the UK is like a home away home for international students like me as it has so much to offer and no one can feel that they do not belong in this part of world. England is so multi-cultural!
The main reason I chose Leeds Met is that it is located in the heart of UK. The University is also a recognised and esteemed institution and is very well known for its exceptional courses and excellent faculty. More over the Leeds Met South Asia staff were wonderful! They helped me throughout the process from getting my paperwork done to filing my visa.
What encouraged you to apply for the scholarship, how did you and your family feel when you won?
I really needed the scholarship! Without it I would not have been able to attend Leeds Met. For the actual essay I was given several topics to choose from, and then write an essay of not more than 1000 words on my chosen topic. I worked very hard and that hard work paid off.
When I found out that I had won I was on the top of the world! The first thing I did was to say my prayers to the Almighty God and I thanked him in every way possible.
My parents were also incredibly proud and thankful and also said their thankful prayers to God. It was indeed a blessing to me! The scholarship means so much to me. I was really going through a financial crunch and it would have been difficult to attend Leeds Met without the scholarship. Besides getting a scholarship is so prestigious and winning the scholarship really boosted my confidence levels!
What do you think of Leeds/Leeds Met?
I loved Leeds! It is such a great city. It was my first time out from my home country & the city and the University were so welcoming. I was so exited to see the university as I’d heard a lot from my friends about their experience here. I’m happy to say it lived up to my expectations and my friends’ recommendations.
My most rewarding experience since arriving at Leeds Met was getting the scholarship (in terms of money), but above all is that I met students from around the world and made so many new friends from many different cultures and countries. Leeds Met is such a warm and friendly environment so making long-lasting friends is so easy here.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I think I m over ambitious as I really want to be someone that all my friends and family could be proud of and for that I need to work hard no matter whatever I do in my life. Right now, getting my master’s degree is very important to me because my future is very much associated with it. Also, I am looking forward to enjoying my university experience, which I cherish forever in my life. |
