Why did you chose Leeds Met?
A degree from the UK is recognised world wide which is a very appealing factor. Also, I wanted to internationalise myself and give my future career a boost. Obtaining an education in the UK will give me an advantage both personally and professionally. Leeds Met is equipped with some of the best facilities a university can offer. It has a world-wide recognised reputation. The course I chose is also recognised by the chartered institute of marketing. Combined, it made Leeds Met the only choice!
In order to come to Leeds Met I worked with an agent in India who provided me with a great deal of support. They guided me extensively and made the whole process so easy. The application was actually very practical and analytical. It was set up in such a way that it was easy to pursue the right course.
I know that a degree from Leeds Met will give me an edge over the competition when I start applying for jobs. The cross-cultural international exposure combined with the practical and focussed courses will enrich me with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
What do you think of Leeds Met?
Since being here I have discovered that Leeds Met is a wonderful place. There is an excellent cross cultural connection between the students of all nationalities, which only enriches and enhances an already excellent education. The staff and faculty are so helpful also, which is an added bonus. From day one everyone at the university has gone out of their way to provide as much help and support as possible. They really endeavour to make international students feel welcome and to make this feel like “home”.
I live in the Mary Morris International Residence. It is a very friendly environment with students from all nationalities coming together under one roof. It is a very peaceful and sociable environment.
The Scholarship
I always try to aim as high as possible. I strive to push myself just that little bit harder to see what I can achieve. The scholarship offered the opportunity to aim high. I had to submit work experience, extra-curricular activities, social services and my academic record as part of the application process. When I found out I had won I was ecstatic! I aimed high, I worked hard and it paid off! My principle in life has always been, “Beat the expectation and the world is yours.” My friends and family were so elated when I won the scholarship! They were on top of the world – just as I was!
The scholarship will strengthen my career prospects and allow future employers to see that I’m not afraid to aim high and work hard.
The Course
The professors are such a great asset to the courses. The UK has a different teaching style to what I have been used to, but the professors really take the time to make sure international students are acclimated to the learning style. They make learning easy and support and help, approachable. The practical association of the course with direct relation to marketing keeps me focussed and challenged.
The city of Leeds
Leeds is a magical place. It is a business oriented city and also a strong financial hub. Yet, there is a great balance between the business life here and the life of the many students. The city accommodates for both aspects. The people in this city are from all different nationalities. It really is a multi-cultural hub and everyone is so friendly and helpful. You can’t help but feel comfortable and welcome here!
