Why did you choose Leeds Met?
Since being very young I have dreamed of coming to the UK to pursue my education. Many people from my country come to the UK and I was fascinated with all the stories they brought back.
I chose Leeds Met because it was such good value for money whilst offering an excellent standard of education. I had heard much about Leeds and really wanted to come here to live. It is such a fast-growing and vibrant city and I wanted to be part of that. In addition, the weather is also nice here; it’s never too cold. And the area surrounding Leeds is so verdant and green; it’s absolutely beautiful.
What made you apply for the Scholarship and how did you feel when you won?
I decided that I wouldn’t know if I could win unless I applied! I wrote an essay which required a lot of personal thought and research. I knew what I submitted had to be excellent if I were to compete with all the other entrants. I always try to strive to the best of my abilities, both inside and outside of work and so entering for the scholarship was just another way for my to push myself that little bit further.
I was elated when I heard the news! It is always wonderful to know that your hard work has paid off. I consider it a great achievement! My parents were particularly supportive; always motivating me to move forward and standing by me no matter how difficult a situation gets. Getting a scholarship from Leeds Met, an excellent UK university, is one of the biggest achievements of my life. I really hope more women from my country come to the UK to obtain a higher education as it is truly a life changing experience which has helped to broaden my vision and goals.
