"My name is Rajiv Harjai. I am from New Delhi, India.

After 7 years of significant, progressive administrative experience I decided that in order to enhance my career and get into the upper management level I should start to study again. I wanted to study Public Relations as I think I have a talent for it. My first choice was to come to a Higher Education institution in the UK, so I started hunting around for a university which offers a great course in Public Relations and has a good reputation for its course.

I was a professional and wanted a course developed by professionals. Leeds Metropolitan University has that. The Public Relations department is around 15 years old. The tutors are from various backgrounds and are always ready to help. The course gives me membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations after I graduate. Furthermore, they are linking up with the European Council, so we can have internships right after we graduate which will be great for my C.V.

The admissions process was uncomplicated; staff from the University were interviewing prospective students at the Leeds Met South Asia office in New Delhi and gave me on the spot admission. I know of other universities where you apply and wait weeks for a response. Leeds Met South Asia staff were simply brilliant. They made a potentially difficult process so easy and helped out so much in every phase of my coming to the UK . They are very knowledgeable and could answer all my questions. I have been to other university's offices in India where the service was nowhere near as good.

Since arriving at the University, I have been amazed by how friendly people are. The whole Leeds Met community is always ready to help. Rather than tell me that things are not possible, people try to accommodate problems or new ideas. In computer terms it would be described as “user friendly”. I will say “Leeds Met is student friendly”.

Following graduation, I hope to open my own PR company which will eventually have an international reputation. I am confident that Leeds Met will help me achieve this goal."
