Why did you choose to come to Leeds Met?
I wanted to gain an international exposure in an educational field. The UK is renowned world-wide for its prestigious education and universities, so it was the obvious choice. Leeds Met is a recognised and esteemed university. It is very well known for its exceptional courses and excellent faculty.
I applied to Leeds Met through the Leeds Met South Asia office in New Delhi, India. The staff helped me fill out the application and ensure that all aspects of the application was covered.
The Scholarship
The Leeds Met South Asia staff were wonderful! They had full confidence in me that I could achieve a scholarship and through their encouragement, I applied. The scholarship was so rewarding to receive. It required a lot of hardwork, writing essays and journals and maintaining self-motivation in order to achieve it.
Winning the scholarship really boosted my confidence levels to a very high extent! I didn’t think I was worthy of a scholarship, but through the encouragement of the Leeds Met South Asia office and sheer hardwork I achieved it! It made me very happy. It is such an unforgettable reward in my life.
My family were as happy as me when I received notification of winning the scholarship. They are very proud of me.
What do you think of Leeds Met?
Leeds Met is an excellent place for the growth of your career prospects. It’s the best place one can conceive of studying at in order to develop your career.
The most positive experience since being here is the cross exposure to students from all over the world and experiencing first-hand new cultures. This interaction has initiated a keen interest in me to learn more about other cultures and to keep on meeting new and varied people.
From the start Leeds Met has been very supportive. The welcome programme was well organised and helped clear up any doubts and fears I may have had at moving to the UK. The Helpzone and the Jobshop are always willing to be of assistance, the faculty are very supportive and everyone at the University in general is very easy to approach and always willing to assist in any way they can.
Freshers’ festival was a very different and unique experience. I made so many new friends in such a short space of time, tried new cuisine’s and learned how to dance Salsa. Between the welcome programme and the welcome party I felt very comfortable here, very quickly.
I love living in Mary Morris – international residence. The view from the window is so green, scenic and beautiful to look at. The staff at the residence are very well-mannered and pleasant.
A degree from Leeds Met will provide me with the best head start to be able to attain a job at a multi national corporation. My CV will be so much richer for showing a degree from Leeds Met and will provide me with the recognition I need to get the job I want.
The Course
The study pattern adopted by Leeds Met is very different to what I was used to back home in India. There are lots of discussions groups, presentation and self-study. It’s not easy to adopt a new learning style, but the faculty are very helpful and supportive and make great efforts to help international students adjust.
