International Reflections
Tuesday 31 October 2006

Spending a year in Bruxelles was the best thing I’ve ever done.  At first I felt lost in this city and I had no friends so I was completely alone.  For the first couple of weeks I was petrified!  I missed home and my life back in the UK, but once I found my feet and made friends out there I gradually started to like it.  Bruxelles became home after the Christmas break, not the UK.  I had lots of friends there and was improving enormously with my French.

When the reality of going back to Leeds kicked in, I didn’t want to go back!  My life was there with all my new international group of friends.  I didn’t want to change this life I had made for myself, I loved it.  By living on the continent it was easy to go travelling; I went to Germany, Luxembourg and all over Belgium.  I met some amazing people out in Bruxelles and hopefully I have made friends for life with a few of them.  I am definitely going back to Bruxelles to visit and I am hoping to go there to live once I have finished my degree at Leeds Met.
