I arrived at Leeds Met in September 2007 from Chicago, USA. My first week here was so hectic. I had to find out where everything was, how to get to and from places and how the school system worked.  At the end of the week I was feeling stressed and I needed to relax.  I heard about the Tiki welcome party and I knew this was my opportunity.  I talked to people who were in the same position as me, I danced, ate and just had fun. It was a great end to my first week here and I met so many people at the party that I'm still friends with now.

As the second semester commenced, the new international students arrived.  At the end of their first week the new students were treated to a Cuban Beat welcome party. All international and home students were also invited. It was a great opportunity to bring so many different cultures together in one room and to see them enjoying each other's company and to know that they were making life long friends. Leeds Met knows how to welcome new students and puts a lot of effort into making everyone feel welcome.
