Silver International Festival |
I am delighted to support this festival which is presented by
the Faculty which bears my name.
I have been privileged to serve Leeds Metropolitan University for over 15 years in many capacities and will be retiring from my present and most senior role as Chancellor in 2005. During this time I have seen our international activities develop from just a small number of international students to the present situation. The future is even more exciting.
The purpose, of course, is to enhance the experience of all students,
from the United Kingdom or from other countries, to ensure they
have the necessary knowledge and skills to be capable and confident
practitioners equipped to make the world in some way a better place
for those who follow. This has always been my personal aim too.
Against this background it was such a great honour to be
approached to give my name to this new faculty which is
charged with the responsibility of taking internationalisation forward for
all the University. I readily gave my consent.
I commend this excellent programme of events to you all. They are a wonderful
illustration of the scope and diversity of international activities in the
University and I hope that they will be fully supported.
