Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning Research
Research conducted in the Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning is led by Professor Janet Finlay, the research draws on previous work in human-computer interaction and interactive systems design and therefore has a strong emphasis on student and staff experience and appropriate technologies. We begin with the users' assessment, learning and teaching (ALT) needs and explore how technology can enable more effective learning and enhance the learning context. We have particular interests in how Web 2.0 technologies can best support learners and educators and have a number of projects where we are exploring these issues. We are also interested in how practitioners share best practice and reuse both content and practices in their own work. We are therefore looking at supporting workflows associated with reusable learning objects and supporting transfer of practice through effective representation. We are also interested in the user's experience of learning technologies and use a number of evaluation approaches, including eye tracking, to assess the way in which these technologies are used.
