Centre for Social Innovation

There is a growing body of research, consultancy and pedagogical activity, across Leeds Met faculties, focusing on issues concerned with the public sector and civil society in general. The Centre for Social Innovation, led by Professor Antony Bryant, seeks to offer a network and a platform for these efforts, so that they can provide mutual enhancement and impact.

The aim of those associated with the centre is to build upon existing work at LeedsMet, and develop further projects focusing on the ways in which innovation and transformation can be brought to bear on social issues and the 'diversity of spaces, actors and institutional forms' that comprise civil society.

The following are just a taster of the projects and initiatives currently under progress within the Centre:
  • The Student Wiki
  • Wikis in the community
  • Corporate social enterprise
  • Civil society and the social entrepreneur
  • Social innovation in the curriculum
  • Community engagement initiatives
  • New forms of philanthropy
