Rockstar Leeds Guest Lecture

As part of our Festival of Student Achievement Showcase we were delighted to welcome Ian Bowden, Art Director at Rockstar Leeds. to present a special guest lecture to students and staff.

Ian's lecture entitled 'War Stories' reflected on his 15 year career in the games industry. He shared first-hand advice on how to get into the industry and highlighted the benefits higher education can bring to career prospects.

After the lecture Ian took time out to view our level 3 student project work and discussed their next steps in taking forward their projects into the gaming world.

Rockstar are the creators of the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, Grand Theft Auto IV is predicted to break the opening week sales figures of Halo 3 and generate up to $400m (£201m) in sales. The game so far has received a series of near-perfect reviews after its release on Tuesday 29 April 2008.

Rockstar Leeds has been developing games since 1997 and joined the Rockstar family in 2004. The studio was responsible for Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, the bestselling game on the PSP® system in 2005, and also brought it to the PlayStation®2 in June 2006.
