PG Cert/Pg Dip/MA Audio Post Production

Overview

Audio post-production for the television and broadcast industries is changing rapidly and the traditional apprenticeship routes to training in these areas are fast disappearing. The main employment opportunities exist for freelancers and sole traders and a lack of industry experience can sometimes lead to missed opportunities. This is something that has been recognised by the film and television sector and the need for such training has been taken up by government agencies such as Screen Yorkshire and Skillset. These training opportunities tend to be vocationally based and do not offer the chance to engage in critical debate about your work and to examine, stretch and develop your creative practice through an engagement with the wider context in which it takes place.

On this course, practice is supported through the use of our extensive facilities and is broadened by our partnerships with experienced industry professionals and practitioners. We seek to allow you to work on real world projects and to shadow professionals, inviting their input to your projects in order to gain the necessary experience and industry understanding with which to progress in this very competitive and fast changing industry.

Leeds Met has a number of JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Services) accredited courses which are regulated and approved by UK Screen as well as the APRS (Association of Professional Recording Services) and the MPG (Music Producers Guild). As a regional centre for JAMES, the University is involved in developing and maintaining standards within the industry.
