Judy White
Judy White - Senior Lecturer
Judy has spent the last 22 years working in health promotion/public health in Bradford where she has promoted participatory approaches and lay engagement. She set up the Healthwise programme which trains lay people to be tutors delivering community based physical activity, stress management and health topics.
She also led on the Health Trainer programme in Bradford which trains lay people to provide one to one support for people from disadvantaged communities and is the regional lead for Health Trainers.
Prior to working in the NHS, Judy worked in the community and voluntary sector, including a project in York which involved young people in voluntary health action, and helping to set up two Community Health Projects in Bradford.
Judy is passionate about addressing health inequalities and has a long standing interest in workforce development, research and evaluation.
In January 2008 Judy started work as a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Metropolitan University, mainly teaching on the MSc in Health Promotion - Public Health and playing a lead role in the Centre for Health Promotion Research focusing on evaluation and research into lay engagement to improve health.
