Health Promotion
Leeds Metropolitan University has a strong tradition in health promotion and public health. We were one of the first three UK universities asked to provide health education specialist training. That was thirty years ago. We have grown to be a centre of excellence nationally and internationally, and have seen many changes, from health education to health promotion and more recently, to health improvement and public health.
Keeping abreast of these changes has put us in a good position to meet the needs of the changing public health agenda. We are key players in developing the modern public health workforce both in the UK and in developing countries; we deliver our Masters course in the UK, The Gambia and Zambia. Our work falls into three main areas: Education and Training; Research and Publication; Consultancy and Community Activities. For information about the UK course please see the link opposite.
