Faculty Research Support Unit
Research is seen as a key element in the development of a Faculty culture that contributes to the advancement of knowledge, supports specialist teaching and learning and offers staff the opportunity to engage in scholarly activity as a means of enhancing professional and subject expertise.
In the recent Research Assessment Exercise, 90% of the Faculty's research that was submitted was classed as being of "National", "International" or "Internationally Excellent" standing which represents a significant improvement in both capacity and standard since the previous exercise. It was noted that "a majority of the research outputs were assessed at a quality that is recognised nationally or internationally, with evidence of some internationally excellent and world-leading outputs".
The Faculty Research Support Unit exists to provide a point of contact for all research in the Faculty and will be used to improve research governance and to act as a support for the development of research bids and project management.
