The Acoustics Laboratory is equipped for the measurement and analysis of noise in a wide range of situations. Key areas of interest are the investigation and solution of environmental noise problems, the assessment of workplace exposure to noise and vibration, and the measurement of various acoustic properties of buildings. We also have facilities for testing human hearing ability. Some of this work is carried out in the laboratory, and in the specialist test chambers attached. Students carrying out project work often take the equipment out to use in the study of real world problems.
