As years go by more and more students have multi-functional mobile devices such as pocket computers, smart phones, iPhones etc. These devices give students access to communications and web services whereever they are - including in the classroom, at work placements etc. However, the devices also have limitations in comparison to a desktop computer, most obviously the screen is very small and connectivity may be intermittent.
The ALPS project is exploring the use of mobile devices by students in work placements. Several Faculty of Health courses are engaged with piloting ALPS tools.
