Great Student Run 08

The third annual Carnegie Great Student run was won by Leeds Met student Rory Fraser and Sarah Tunstall celebrated as the first woman over the finishing line. Dominic Owens took first place in the Carnegie Mini Marathon with Beth Hallam taking the prize for best fancy dress.

The third Carnegie Great Student Run broke last year's entry numbers with over one and a half thousand people entering the 5km race to join in the carnival atmosphere.  Runners set off on the 5km route weaving through the beautiful Headingley Campus.  They were cheered along the way by hundreds of supporters, including over 500 participants of the Carnegie Mini Marathon.

Students and staff took time out preparing for the run and relaxing in the sun after competing to talk to Gwen Youlden, Public Relations student, about their race-day experiences. Click here to read more.

All participants at this year's run were given a chip that tracked their progress and recorded their finishing time. You can now view your race time on the Great Run website.
