Student ProfilesJan Bully - Arts & Society
Jan applied to the part-time course as it appealed to her because it was so flexible and it allowed her to work and study without compromising one for another. “Having the opportunity to study this course has been like a second chance. I have been able to do the things that I couldn’t do or didn’t do when I was younger. Garden Art & Design allowed me to put all the skills I enjoy using into one course, it’s very rewarding.” Jan’s favourite module, ‘managing a garden design project’, took place in her penultimate year. Throughout this module students where able to meet real clients, measure their gardens and work to real briefs. Jan enjoyed this module the most because it was the closest students came to acting as qualified garden designers. Jan thought the library at Leeds Met was fantastic, along with the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) suite which had great packages to work with. At the end of the course Jan showed her work off to the public as well as potential employers in an exhibition at Leeds Met. Since completing her studies Jan has begun her own business in garden design and is thoroughly enjoying it. |
