HEAR WY
HEAR WY (Higher Education Aspiration Raising - West Yorkshire) is a partnership of all West Yorkshire's Higher Education Institutions and was established in response to the government's Excellence Challenge (later Aimhigher) initiative to widen participation into Higher Education.
The HEAR WY partnership is hosted by Leeds Metropolitan University and is based within, and supported by, the Get Ahead Team. The partnership's aims are to:
- Develop projects which have 'value added'
- Share best practice
- Avoid duplication of effort
- Produce work which benefits a wider audience
Thanks to this successful partnership, over 15,000 young people across West Yorkshire benefited from widening participation activity in 2007-08 alone. Following the impact of this work from 2002-08, HEAR WY was successful in its bid for further funding from West Yorkshire Aimhigher and its two members of staff are dedicated to putting project plans into action.
