We seek to recruit full-time and part-time students who wish to undertake higher degrees by research which relates to the research interests of staff of the School. Leeds Business School also recruits and supervises research students jointly with other faculties where appropriate.

The following research awards are on offer:

  • Diploma by Research
  • Master by Research (MA or MSc)
  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Higher Doctorate (DLitt)
  • DBA Programme

The Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) is a research degree with equivalent outcomes to a PhD including level of award and title. It provides continuing professional development for managers, consultants and other professionals including academics, who are typically in employment in high level and demanding roles. The DBA will help you develop your capacity to think creatively and innovatively about your organisational, managerial and professional problems. It will improve your skills in making informed judgements and decisions in relation to complex issues. You will be better able to design and implement advanced level research projects and to collect, analyse and present data, evidence and arguments in academic and professional contexts.

Areas of research for the Doctorate of Business Adminstration focus on the themes of regional economic development, labour market analysis, policy evaluation, small business management, enterprise, human resource, international finance, marketing, retailing, international development, public sector communications, PR and law.
