Work Experience Meets Everest Achieving a balance between energy intake and expenditure is of paramount importance to maintaining body mass, nutritional status and physical and mental well-being whilst at extreme altitude, therefore careful designs of dietary plans and prescriptions during the expedition are essential to ensure not only optimal achievement of the team but the safety of each individual. These are fascinating aspects of the project, my involvement in which has given me a great insight into the area of nutrition. Whilst having had the fantastic opportunity to be part of history I have gained extensive knowledge and skills that I intent to apply to an extensive piece of independent study in my final year.
