Languages for all: accredited free language courses
We'll help you stand out from the crowd - learn a language for free!
“Employers struggle to fill vacancies because of lack of languages” (The Guardian, 2014)
That's why we're giving full-time current undergraduate and postgraduate students studying at Leeds Metropolitan University the opportunity to learn a language:
- Gain a qualification in a language at no extra cost
- Develop your language skills to enhance your job opportunities
- Improve your communication skills in your chosen language
- Network with local professionals in our language classes
Full time current undergraduate or postgraduate Leeds Metropolitan University students can now apply for a place on one of our free Languages for All courses. Places are limited and on a first come, first served basis. You can only apply for one free language.
Courses will be offered at different levels from Beginners through to Advanced. Not all levels may be available in all languages. Languages offered are:
Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
There are courses available at Headingley and City Campuses (Rose Bowl).
Languages for work – These evening courses for Beginners take place at our City Campus (Rose Bowl) and are offered in the following languages:

The courses have been specifically designed to contextualise a professional environment, such as enquiring about services and facilities in a company/city, organising a meeting including date, time and venue.
