Alice Pepperell - BA (Hons) Human Geography & Planning

Using the advice and guidance of our industry experts Alice Pepperell successfully secured placements with multi-million pound companies in the public and private sectors. The Human Geography student has undertaken placements at both Leeds City Council and WYG consultants. WYG are an established global management and technical consultancy to the built and natural environment and have operations in over 40 countries.

When composing her CV, Alice sought the aid of the careers experts working in our University’s Job Shop, who gave her invaluable advice to put together a CV that would attract employers' attention.

Alice believes work experience is necessary for students to increase their employment potential, she says: “To make the most of their studies and develop the life skills that are so valuable to employers, students should aim to get as much work experience as possible. Classroom learning alone is not enough to make you stand out from other graduates with real work experience. At Leeds Metropolitan there are countless opportunities to gain employment and stand out – and they’re just waiting for students to take advantage of them.”
