Independent International Volunteering
If volunteering abroad through Leeds Metropolitan's programme isn't for you - we wanted to provide a list of possible charities and organisations that we know for you to look at. We do not recommend any particular charity, so we have also provided a number of 'how to' guides to make the process as good as possible.
Don't forget to email us let us know what you are doing - we'd love to hear about it.
Charities/Community Organisations (we will be added to this list during the year)
Project Peru
The focal point of the Project in Peru is at Zapallel, near Lima, where we have established a refuge from poverty and disadvantage. We regularly provide food, shelter and support for children and families in need.
People and Places
People and Places choose their projects be needs identified by the local community, working with our local partners. It is these close community relationships that make it possible for us to identify appropriate placements for each individual volunteer.
East Africian Playgrounds (EAP)
East African Playgrounds (EAP) is a UK-based charity that sends out teams of volunteers from the UK and builds playgrounds for schools, orphanages, charities and other organisations in East Africa.
Kanga Project
The Kanga Project is a small kitchen table charity working in Africa. Presently our efforts are aimed at supporting the development efforts and goals of the community of Ilongero in Tanzania.
