Well Met Conferencing hosts sporting greats at Leeds Sports Awards

Last night (Monday 14th February) saw Ghandi Hall, one of Well Met Conferencing's portfolio of venues, host the prestigious Leeds Sports Awards. With 200 guests in attendance, including Leeds United Manager Simon Grayson, international rugby star Jason Robinson and professional tri-athlete, Jonathan Brownlee, the evening celebrated sporting achievements from 2010. Jason Robinson also collected a lifetime achievement award for his dedication to Rugby.

Following an official welcome by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr James McKenna, guests enjoyed dinner at the Headingley venue followed by the presentation of awards. The awards, which included Player of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year and Disability Performer of the Year to Coach of the Year and Club of the Year, were presented by a range of significant figures including the Lady Mayoress, David Heddon - Chair of Sport Leeds, Liz Wilson - Chairman of Leeds Sports Federation and Peter Smith - Project Manager of Leeds Gold.

Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said:

"The award's evening was a great success and it was a great honour for Well Met to be chosen as the host venue. Ghandi Hall offers a fantastic flexible space which can be used for just about anything - from exhibitions and lectures to formal dinners and receptions for up to 400 so it provided the perfect picturesque venue for guests who attended the welcome reception, dinner and award ceremony last night."

The Leeds Sports Awards are for sports professionals who live within the Leeds area, represent a club which is based within the city council area or, for athletes who attend a University, College or School in the Leeds region.
