Supporting Leeds 2018 bid
Following a site visit by the Football Association earlier this year Well Met Conferencing are waiting in anticipation to find out if the Carnegie Village and Sports Centre will be one of the chosen venues as part of the Leeds bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
The Carnegie Village, situated on Well Met's Headingley Campus, is the the new state of the art halls of residence which offers high-specification, all year round residential conference facilities including bedrooms, shared living space and impressive views over the Leeds Met sports grounds.
Following their visit, the FA were highly impressed with the world-class facilities on offer at the Headingley campus. Well Met have already welcomed the likes of the England Rugby Union Junior Squad, teams from the Paralympics, the South African Olympic delegation as well as the FA, which highlights their suitability in hosting major sporting events.
Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said:
"To be considered as a potential residential base as well as a training camp for the 2018 World Cup is a fantastic honour. We have already hosted some high profile guests at Carnegie Village and we can offer visitors some of the best sporting facilities in the country combined with pioneering residential accommodation. "
Well Met Conferencing is part of a wider campaign in a bid for Leeds to be a host city for 2018. Following the city's second visit by the FA in September, after the submission of the preliminary bid, Leeds is working hard on a final bid submission before the announcement is made in December. If Leeds is successful in their bid Well Met will be put forward as part of the FA's bid to FIFA.
