NHS Innovation Conference

22/06/2009

TheRose Bowl, Well Met Conferencing's innovative new venue, provided the perfect backdrop for the NHS 'Transforming Community Services' event held last Monday (15th June). The conference was a huge success and included introductions from the Chief Executive of NHS Leeds, Christine Outram, and a closing summary from Director of Care Services for NHS Leeds Community Healthcare, Philomena Corrigan.

The aim of the 'NHS Leeds Innovation in Community Services Conference' was to showcase the innovational service developments that NHS Leeds Community Healthcare colleagues are undertaking as part of an ongoing commitment to quality. Delegates had the opportunity to hear from leaders in the fields of health care, including Chief Nursing Officer, Dame Christine Beasley; Dean of the Faculty of Health at Leeds Met University and Professor Richard Hogston.

Beverley Smyth, Conference Organiser from NHS Leeds, commented: "I found the input from Well Met Conferencing very reassuring.  To be able to ring or e-mail the conference team and have queries regarding layouts, bookings etc dealt with so quickly and efficiently took a lot of the stress out of the organisation process. To be able to walk in on the day of the event and have everything set up and ready was a great help. The Well Met team responsible for lunch and refreshments were also very prompt and courteous and were happy to help with any requests."

Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said "The Rose Bowl is such a new and innovative venue which is why it was so perfect for this event - a conference to share cutting edge ideas in health and social care in a building with up to the minute, first-class technology. As the event was for the medical professionals of Leeds it made sense to host it in the city. With so much competition for high quality conference venues in Leeds I am delighted that the Rose Bowl was their venue of choice!"

The afternoon programme for the conference included a series of workshops where clinical staff could share some of their innovations, lessons learned and transformations achieved. Delegates could choose three breakout sessions from Children and Families, Promoting Health and Well Being, Care Closer to Home, Rehabilitation, Long Term Illness and End of Life Care.
