WelcomeFollowing the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simon Lee, in January 2009, the Board of Governors appointed Dr Geoff Hitchins as Chief Executive and Acting Vice-Chancellor. Dr Hitchins will continue in post until the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Susan Price, arrives on 1 January 2010. Dr Hitchins was Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University until 2006. From June 2006 until January 2009 he was re-employed by the University as Emeritus Deputy Vice-Chancellor, undertaking a number of consultancy and interim management roles. He has twice previously stepped in to take the role of Acting Vice-Chancellor. The Chief Executive is supported by a range of colleagues, all of whom are focussed on ensuring that students are given the best experience possible and that the University grows in prestige and academic stature. These colleagues are his Personal Assistant (Victoria Pearce), Personal Assistant to the Office (Clare Burton); three Pro-Vice-Chancellors (Professor Sally Brown, Professor Anne Gregory and Cath Orange); six Deans of Faculty (Martin Allison, Professor Chris Bailey, Barbara Colledge, Gareth Davies, Professor Richard Hogston and Professor Elspeth Jones); and three Senior Officers (Steve Denton, Registrar & Secretary; Stephen Willis, Director of Finance & Resources and Steve Pashley, Director of Human Resources). You are welcome to the University and we invite you to explore this website thoroughly to find out about our extensive academic curriculum, the numerous 'extended curriculum' opportunities available to students and the wider role that the University undertakes, regionally, nationally and internationally. |
