Definition of Research Mentoring

Research mentoring is concerned with collegiate support for research and scholarship development as an entitlement for all academic staff within their professional profile.  It is distinct from appraisal and from any other supervisory process associated with, for example, undertaking a PhD and/or externally or internally funded research.  Research mentoring aims to build capacity and expertise in research, scholarship and teaching.
