of the members of the Centre are research-active. It is the intention with
this area of the site to make available our relevant published articles
along with the Centre's developing database of articles. What follows is
a brief resume of the main areas of research together with a contact email
address if you wish to know more about, or be of assistance to, any of the
projects listed. Project Management Methodologies A new project that has recently taken on board a research student to examine the extent of use of formal project methodologies across different commercial sectors. Why do different project environments lend themselves to particular approaches to methodologies? Contact - m.bates@leedsmet.ac.uk Project Management Software - Use or Misuse? A multifaceted area of research which began over 3 years ago with a survey of the construction industry's use of Project Management Software. The survey looked at the packages being used and the extent of use. From this initial study, work has progressed to specific work with the house-building sector (see Consultancy) examining the potential for high level use of the software and its potential for improving supply chain communication and improved site productivity. Contact - m.bates@leedsmet.ac.uk Data Integration A research project driven by local industry. How well is data integrated in the functions of organisations? From an initial survey of construction firms the research team is now seeking to take on a research graduate to pursue this area of work further via some case studies. Contact - j.sturges@leedsmet.ac.uk Project Management Training - Evaluating Improvements to Business Performance Currently, organisations spend large sums of money on Project Management training. Is there any improvement in business performance as a result? This project, being undertaken in collaboration with Yorkshire Water, is examining training evaluation models and is considering the potential use of KPIs. Can one industry learn from another in the way it delivers its projects? Work has been undertaken to compare construction with aerospace.
