Claire Walker is acting as the KTP Associate at Leeds Metropolitan University and has been supervised by the School of the Built Environment throughout the duration of her 18-month KTP project. Claire's role involved her with the specialist restoration and refurbishment of the Grade 1 listed Myddelton Lodge in Ilkley. Myddlelton Construction Ltd won the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Yorkshire & Humber region) Building Conservation Award 2007 for their specialist
Claire said, "We are very pleased. This project has brought back to life one of Ilkley's historic buildings and is a fine example of the benefits of traditional building techniques.."
Myddelton Construction Ltd have also been awarded with the Conservation Award 2007 by the Ilkley Civic Society for their work on Myddelton Lodge and associated buildings.
The School of the Built Environment at Leeds Met has produced a virtual tour of Myddelton Lodge, which has teaching applications in our Building Pathology module. This vitual tour was used in Myddelton Construction Ltd's submission to the RICS.
The KTP with Myddelton Construction Ltd also forms part of the School's Construction Knowledge Exchange project, building capacity for third-stream activity - involving collaborations and partnerships between academia and industry.
