Michelle Leach: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

Michelle Leach is employed by Drawn Metal in Leeds. The firm, established in 1926, works in the construction industry as architectural metalworkers providing a design, manufacture and project management service specialising in bespoke products.

"My role is Finance Manager and report to the Finance Director and I manage a team of five." she says.

"CIMA was my chosen professional accounting qualification because of it's leaning towards industry management accounting which is relevant for a role such as mine."

" I have found the tutors at Leeds Met excellent at Strategic Level, and they have all had a similar approach in guiding us towards these three exams in an extremely short timeframe.  They concentrated on the core elements of the syllabus without diluting the tutorials with information which is relevant but not essential to pass the exams, which some tutors are inclined to do."

"They encouraged our input during tutorials to keep us focused and interested as they recognise it is difficult for students concentrating during evening classes after working all day - this resulted in some enjoyable debates and ideas.  Their tactics and methods of teaching were superb and well structured and advice given has been constructive."
