Continous Professional Development

Our work in Carnegie Education directly relates to the four common elements shared across the Faculty, namely people, pedagogy, critically reflective practice and professional development. The portfolio of Education postgraduate provision is linked through these shared interests in people and their education and development across the lifespan, from Childhood Studies, Early Years Education, Postgraduate Teacher Education, Education Studies, Teacher and Non-Teacher Continued Professional Development, through to our Postgraduate Research Awards.

Marianne Sargent, MA Early Years

Marianne is currently studying for the MA Early Years at Leeds Met Carnegie having previously gained a BA (Hons) in Law and Literature from Bolton University and a PGCE. She is currently working as a teacher and was attracted to the MA Early Years as she wanted to improve her skills and this was a unique course of its type in Yorkshire. Marianne is enjoying enhancing her learning at Carnegie and believes that the course has improved her confidence and has allowed her to gain skills in research and academic writing. She is enjoying her continuing study further to her BSc and PGCE and is hoping to continue her time in academia once she has completed the MA by undertaking a PhD.
