Michael Taylor Operations Director Fosters Bakery Barnsley "Young Director of the Year 2008" Michael has had a very busy year so far and this award was the "icing on the cake"! Michael says "I was officially appointed as a member of the Board of Governors for Barnsley College in January 2008 and on the same day appointed Chairman of the Board of CenFRA Ltd. I have been invited as guest speaker at the World Innovation Forum to be held in the Netherlands later this year.

The IoD Diploma has given me the knowledge and expertise required of a Director to operate at all levels. I wouldn't have the expertise to chair my CenFRA Board and certainly wouldn't have the knowledge required of a Further Education Governor.  It opens your eyes in terms of your governance as a director but also educates you strategically with business acumen to fulfil your role. The IoD Diploma was part of the workforce strategy we have put in place at Fosters Bakery. Every employee has undertaken some form of training from the bottom to the top of our company. All of our employee's will have achieved at least NVQ level 2 by the end of the current year.

This last six weeks has been very exciting, I got engaged in August and have just celebrated my 40th birthday - what a year!
