Success Stories: Munimjee

Sahdev Thakur, 25, completed an MBA specialising in Strategic Marketing & Management at Leeds Metropolitan University before coming to work for Business Start-Up to help devise the original interactive business plan CD ROMs.

“Working at Business Start-Up @ Leeds Met helped me to put my thoughts together, build up networks and contacts and draw a plan to help me reach my goal.”

Inspired by the atmosphere he was exposed to at Business Start-Up @ Leeds Met, Sahdev decided to start his own business in 2004 called ‘Munimjee’. Munimjee provides a service primarily to the finance sector, outsourcing their back office work to India . For the moment, Sahdev has set as his immediate goal, domination of the UK market but has aspirations to target the US market within twelve months. He plans to do so by leasing out software produced by his company, to financial companies, showing them the proven track record he now has in the UK .

Sahdev said that running your own business “depends on the individual personality, the harder you work the more profit you get. Some people want security and a salary; a good entrepreneur wants something more unexpected.”
