Success story: Infinite Productions

Thomas Dixon graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in July 2006, achieving a first class honours in the Bachelor of Arts degree, Film and Moving Image Production. He then went onto start-up his own video production company, Infinite Productions.

Infinite Productions aims to be a socially-responsible video production company that produces short film, documentaries, corporate video and music videos. Thomas himself acts as the producer, and also works with a variety of people from different backgrounds and experiences to create new and innovative film.

Recently Thomas produced the short film, Animal Crackers. The film has had previous screenings at prestigious events, such as the Cannes Film Festival, and is showcasing throughout August 2009 at the Portable Film Festival in Australia. The film is about a young man who tries to feel closer to his recently deceased father, through his vivid imagination. In the near future, Infinite will be launching its latest film production as well as its new website, signalling exciting times at the company.

Due to the fact that the Film and Moving Image production industry is forever changing, there is a greater need for fresh and innovative ideas. Thomas realises that the increase in demand for watching videos on your mobile phone and iPod means that there is a great opportunity for short entertainment, and due to his experience of being taught and educated in these new technologies, he is committed to producing short films such as, Animal Crackers.

In May 2007, Tom received £1000 through Business Start-ups Proof of Concept grant scheme. The money was used to help him with the costs of website design and the company registration of Infinite Productions. Thomas said;

“Leeds Met Business Start-up gave me the guidance and access to professional business expertise to fully develop my business plans. It provided me with the financial grounding to create a credible and innovative production company ready to contend in a competitive market. I have always appreciated their continual support and would advise anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit to get in touch with their team.”
