Chris Walton, a Technology and Management student from Leeds Metropolitan University always had the ambition to start his own business but was unsure what to do.
Chris began his entrepreneurial life importing and selling disposable cameras to the trade companies and the public over the internet.

“Even though in recent years digital cameras have become increasingly popular the demand for disposables is still strong” said Chris.


As the business grew Chris opened his first shop in January 2006 called Best Kept Secret which was located in Headingley, Leeds. The company has since relocated to bigger and better premises in the Hyde Park area of the city.


The scope of the business has expanded from the time that Best Kept Secret started trading. Fancy dress hire is now a prominent area of the business, as well as expansion into the distribution of disposable cameras. The cameras are imported from China, and Best Kept Secret supply them to weddings and other events, as well as selling them in-store. A new area of the market for disposable cameras is accident camera kits, which the company supplies to the haulage industry. The kits are used when accidents occur on the road and they help ensure insurance claims are dealt with correctly.

 
Best Kept Secret has gone from strength to strength over the last couple of years, improving the shop location and expanding on the products and services they provide.
